HIRE OF THE OLD SCHOOL

Don’t forget that The Old School is an ideal venue for parties or for regular use by interest groups. Hourly rate: £10 main hall, £2.50 kitchen, £15 computer suite, £5 small meeting room.

There will be a special Celebration Day to mark the fifth anniversary of the opening of The Old School – Saturday 10th July

The ‘Barnby Dun Walkers’
will be organising a walk which will be open to everyone
Walks will start at about 2 miles
And will increase each week up to a distance of 5 miles

The third walk was at 14.00hrs on Thursday 4th March.  Karen and Pete met at Barnby Dun canal bridge and led a party of a eleven enthusiastic walkers, along the canal tow path to Kirk Bramwith, where we saw a beautiful display of snowdrops at Kirk Bramwith church. We returned to Barnby Dun via the towpath to complete a 5 mile walk. Everyone  enjoyed the exercise , so  many thanks to Karen & Pete.

The Garden Villagers of Barnby Dun with Kirk Sandall

The group is taking a well earned rest over the Winter but will meet next month to discuss our plans for Summer planting. We hope to buy more mature plants to bring instant colour to our tubs and containers.

We were all saddened to hear of the death of Judy Yates who was such an enthusiastic member of the Village Gardeners.  We would like to extend our sincere sympathy to all Judy’s family and friends, she will be greatly missed

Although the Spring bulbs are starting to peep through around the village, due to the Arctic conditions of the last few weeks they will be later flowering this year, it will be so heartening to see the colour after our long cold Winter.

Gardeners entertain themselves at this time of year by planning and looking in all the seed catalogues, why don’t you grow something new this year and join the thousands of people who are enjoying gardening maybe for the first time?

DOING WHAT’S RIGHT IS  NOT ALWAYS EASY, BUT ITS ALWAYS RIGHT
